Vernal Equinox

It’s the vernal equinox this week, which means all the stores are packed with food to be used as offerings at graves and alters.  As I don’t have either of those, for me it means a special selection of tasty treats to choose from.  Here’s a pretty looking set of sweets I picked up for about $1.50:

Kumotsu - votive offerings

I always like the flower motifs that are often incorporated into Japanese sweets.  A pretty palette of colors to get you in the mood for spring, and they taste as good as they look.  There’s something to be said for a country that marks the equinoxes as national holidays.
